Hi everyone,

I've been prescribed doxycycline for an infection. The prescription is for 30 pills, to be taken twice daily. I'm a bit confused about the dosage and where it would be best to get them filled. Can someone offer some advice? Thanks!

Hello Sunflower23,

It's great that you're reaching out for clarification! For doxycycline, a standard dose is usually around 100 mg twice daily. Since your prescription is for 30 pills and it’s meant to be taken twice a day, this should cover approximately 15 days of treatment. It's important to take the medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor to ensure that the infection clears up completely.

For where you can get them filled, I would strongly recommend heading over to a local pharmacy or a trusted online one if they offer services in your area. Make sure it’s an FDA-registered pharmacy to ensure the quality and safety of the medication. It's also advisable not to buy from any unverified sources as this could lead to taking substandard drugs which might not be effective.

Let me know how you go, or if there are more specifics about what you're unsure of!

Thanks DrMedic247 for the quick response! I’m a bit worried because my local pharmacy is quite far and busy. Do you think it's safe to buy them online? If so, can you recommend any reputable sites?

You're welcome, Sunflower23.

Buying from a reputable online pharmacy is definitely an option and can be convenient. Ensure the website you choose is legitimate and FDA-approved. Here are some things to look out for when choosing:

  1. Legitimacy: Check if they have a valid pharmacy license.
  2. Reviews: Look at customer reviews to see their experiences.
  3. Prescription Requirements: A reputable pharmacy will require a prescription before dispensing medication.

Some reliable online pharmacies include:- PillPack- Canada Drugs (if you're in the US, and they comply with all FDA regulations)- Walgreens

Remember always to double-check that the website’s URL starts with 'https://' as this signifies a secure connection.

Also, if your local pharmacy is too busy or far, perhaps consider calling ahead for a prescription pick-up time which might save you from long queues.

Thank you so much, DrMedic247! This has been incredibly helpful. I think I'll try calling my local pharmacy first to see if they can set a time for me to pick up the prescription.
